M&S Integrity Standard Insights

A comprehensive two day training programme designed to build capability in managing food and product integrity across complex supply chains. This course equips technical, quality, and supply chain professionals with the knowledge and practical tools needed to protect the M&S brand reputation, prevent food fraud, and implement robust, risk based integrity systems.

Description

This immersive training programme provides a practical and detailed understanding of brand integrity within food supply chains, focusing on how to protect products, customers, and business reputation through effective risk management and transparent processes.

The course explores the full integrity framework used within M&S, covering key elements such as food fraud prevention, traceability, authenticity, ethical sourcing, and supply chain transparency. It highlights the critical importance of ensuring that what is on the label is exactly what is in the product, supported by robust verification, testing, and control systems.

Delegates will develop a strong understanding of how integrity risks arise, including adulteration, substitution, mislabelling, and deliberate contamination, and the significant commercial, legal, and reputational consequences of getting it wrong.

A key focus of the training is adopting a proactive, risk-based approach, moving beyond compliance to continuous self‑governance. On Day 1 participants will learn how to:

  • Build and maintain robust raw material risk assessments
  • Map and evaluate end-to-end supply chains and chain of custody
  • Identify and manage food fraud vulnerabilities
  • Apply claims substantiation and verification processes
  • Use horizon scanning to identify emerging risks and trends
  • Develop effective testing programmes for authenticity and quality

On Day 2, the focus expands to supply chain resilience and business continuity, helping delegates understand how to maintain product supply and integrity during normal production and during disruption. This includes:

  • Building resilient supply chains and identifying single points of failure
  • Developing and testing business continuity plans, strengthening cross-functional collaboration and decision-making under pressure
  • Factory segregation to protect product claims and prevent cross-contamination
  • Site security and behavioural controls to reduce insider and external risks

Delivered through a mix of real-world case studies, audit insights, and interactive exercises, the course equips delegates with the confidence to:

  • Challenge existing systems and identify gaps
  • Strengthen supplier oversight and controls
  • Improve integrity culture within their organisation
  • Demonstrate compliance with evolving M&S requirements

By the end of the course, participants will be able to implement a structured, risk-based integrity approach that supports transparent supply chains, robust controls, and strong brand protection.
